Please describe your interest in the County of Santa Clara’s Government Fellowship Program and future career goals. Please include a discussion on:

1. The importance of local public service and how any County initiatives have impacted you personally;

OR

2. How your life experiences and personal perspective will contribute to the County’s mission to plan for the needs of a dynamic community, provide quality services, and promote a healthy, safe, and prosperous community for all.

Note: For either prompt, please be sure to also include discussion of your top three placements and why you feel best matched with those host departments or projects. It is not acceptable to substitute a different writing sample in lieu of a personal statement.

Information Required by the Student Application

  • Major/Minor, if declared
    • If undeclared, provide interested fields of study
  • Extra-curricular activities/interests/community involvement
  • Preferred term
    • Length of term (up to 10 weeks)
    • Summer months availability (June, July, August, etc.)
    • Scheduled vacation(s)/requested time off

Please note:

  • Selected Fellows will be required to enter into a Stipend Agreement with the County and complete necessary onboarding paperwork
  • The County will pay the selected Fellows on a bi-weekly basis
  • Selected Fellows may be subject to a background check, fingerprinting, and/or health clearance(s)
  • Selected Fellows will be required to provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination or apply for exemption
